Everyone should have received the refund checks for the 6% sales tax.  If not, contact Snowshoe.

____________________________________________

Snowshoe and SPOC are pleased to inform you that the WV Tax Department has issued a tentative approval of a refund of Sales Tax paid by Snowshoe Mountain, Inc. for Snowshoe Mountain Assessments for the period of January 2005-December 2008. Additionally, the WV Tax Department informed the council that sales tax collection can be discontinued for these services.

Below are some likely questions.

How do I get my refund?
Do nothing at this time. Snowshoe must prepare customized and itemized letters to every association or individual who remitted the tax to Snowshoe. A copy of each letter along with summaries will be sent to WV Tax Department. WV Tax Department will then issue a check to Snowshoe for the grand total. Snowshoe then must issue a check to each association or individual.

How long will this take? Snowshoe is working with Intrawest Shared Services in Golden, Colorado
, to compile information. The process is just beginning and therefore is not predictable at this time. However, Snowshoe is committed to accomplishing this before June 30, 2009.

How much will my refund be?
Each situation is unique and there is not one answer for this question. However, the WV Sales Tax rate is 6%. A letter will be coming to you indicating the amount of your refund.

After I receive my letter, may I deduct this amount from future payments?
No, the WV Tax Department requires Snowshoe to issue a refund check to you.

What about sales tax invoiced since December 2008?
Snowshoe and Intrawest Shared Services will begin on March 1, 2009, to issue credits for sales tax amounts invoiced for January and February 2009. These credits will reduce future amounts due in lieu of refunds.
